Week 3
This week we were able to give Evan his first real bath in his froggy bath tub. This was a much better experience than the sponge baths. He really seemed to enjoy it. Evan is definately crying more at night now. Geoff and I are taking turns with him and trying to help him through these times. These nights are often pretty tough on Mom and Dad! Geoff gave Evan his first bottle on Thursday. It took him a few minutes to figure it out, but then he enjoyed a great meal! Evan and I went to see Geoff and Grandpa at the office for the first time. Evan slept most of the time in Meme's office, but everyone enjoyed having him around.

Evan's Second Week
This week Evan is starting to spend more time on his tummy and is working on holding up his head. Sponge baths are getting better, but we sure are ready for a tub bath! We rode out to Meme's for our first outing. That was a great feeling!
Evan had his two week check up with the pediatrician. He peed on 'Grandma Rose' while she was trying to weigh and measure him. Evan now weighs 8 pounds 12 ounces. Evan enjoyed staring at the fluorescent lights at the doctor's office. All my coworkers were also able to meet Evan.
After the doctor's visit, Evan and I spent the afternoon at Meme's. After Geoff got off work, we left Evan with Meme for about 3o minutes to ride around and drink a beer! It was nice to have a little break, but we were ready to see our baby again. On Saturday, we spent much of the day outside. Evan didn't enjoy this as much as we thought. Maybe it was too hot. He got back at us on Saturday night, and we didn't get much sleep!
Evan's First Week
Evan has had many new experiences this week. He's growing and changing every day. Geoff and I gave him his first bath, which was apparently TERRIFYING. We were concerned that he was not having enough poopy diapers the first few days, however that is no longer an issue. Evan now gives us plenty of opportunities to master the art of diapering. He sleeps in the pack & play next to our bed at night. I believe his favorite place to sleep is on Dad's chest, like a little tree frog. By the end of the week, Evan appears to have learned how to fuss. No matter how frustrated Mom & Dad became, we could always look at our precious boy and smile. Evan also rode in his swing for the first time, however his ride was short since he kept slumping forward in the seat. Later we learned that we had the seat positioned incorrectly and this is no longer a problem. Evan was also finally able to meet his cat and dog! Upon arriving home, Evan met Moose, his orange cat. Barley returned home a few days later and was also able to become aquainted with our new addition. We can already tell that Evan, Moose, and Barley will be the best of friends.

Coming Home
We brought Evan home from the hospital on Sunday, September 14. My parents and Geoff's mom greeted us when we arrived home. It was such a strange feeling to drive home with our tiny baby in the truck!
The nearly complete nursery.
Evan's Arrival
Our baby boy was born on September 11, 2009. My water broke while eating lunch at the country club with Geoff, Dad, Stan, Rusty, William, and Don. Geoff and I went home to get ready to go to the hospital. Geoff was so excited that he felt it was necessary to play a few rounds of MarioKart to settle down. I was beginning to have some mild contractions on the way to Greenville. When we reached Delta Regional Medical Center, we were informed that there were no rooms and we would need to wait in a temporary room. Geoff, Mom, and I stayed in what felt like a closet for an hour or so, then I was moved to Suite E.
After settling into my new room, things began to progress more quickly. At 4:00 PM, I requested some pain medication. I think it was around this time that I kicked my family, except Geoff, out of the room for a while. At 8:20 PM, Dr. Beckham arrived to administer my epidural. After several difficult attempts to start the epidural, I was fully dilated and it was time to push! Stephanie and Autumn are amazing nurses, and I don't think I would have survived without them. After 51 long minutes, we were finally able to meet our beautiful baby boy. Evan Kinney Swihart was born at 10:31 PM. He weighed 8 pounds 2 ounces.

The Baby Bump
My belly keeps growing...as to be expected. Geoff and I went to the doctor today for a check-up at 33 weeks. I can't believe so much time has passed. Evan will be here before we know it! Here's a few pictures of my growing belly.

Preparation
Geoff and I have been busy! Well, Geoff has been a little more productive than me, but I think he understands. I never knew my husband was so talented around the house. Our guest room has been slowly transformed into Evan's nursery. I've posted a few pictures of our progress.
