Evan Update

Evan is almost 8 months old in most of these pictures. He now has five teeth. He is enjoying making many more sounds as he explores these new razor sharp teeth growing in his mouth. He likes to make motor boat noises and to just yell random noises at us. It's entertaining to say the least. We took some time off work and made our first family road trip...to Aiken, South Carolina. That's over 600 miles. We are brave. Luckily, we were able to stop at Geoff's sister's apartment in Montgomery, AL. The trip was actually very pleasant. We just stopped every few hours and relaxed on a blanket and let Evan stretch and play, then we were off again. We had a wonderful visit with Geoff's family in Aiken. Unfortunately, I believe we forgot to take pictures. I did post some from our stop in Montgomery. We have been battling exzema for several weeks, and I believe we are finally winning. Keep your fingers crossed. This has not been easy. We tried every remedy under the sun, then....it seems to have just gone away. I hope we continue to have baby soft, clear skin. Evan also had a battle with "monkey pox". No, this is not an obscure illness to be feared by all. We just know that it was not chicken pox, not rubella, not scarlet fever, etc. So, we just decided to call it "monkey pox", since Evan is our little monkey. He just had a few days of fever and fussiness followed by a rash. He is completely well now. Evan happened to be teething at the same time, so Geoff and I kept rubbing Orajel in his mouth and stuffing him full of teething tablets...poor little guy, needless to say, teething tablets do not help "monkey pox". Geoff put together Evan's wagon and we have been going on wagon rides almost daily. Evan travels with his wagon too. He rides in it at the Mayfield's, around the neighborhood, and even at the Bubba-Q.
Playing with Aunt Liz in Montgomery
Making his favorite motor boat noises...
this usually results in lots of spit flying across the room.
Having a great time
Stripes!
I think he likes to suprise me on where he will be in the crib in the morning.
Getting some "naked tummy time"
Geoff is blowing his hair in these pictures.
Evan loved it!

Potter's Birthday on the New Bridge

Bea and Kellee had a very unique, and possibly illegal, way to celebrate Potter's 50th birthday. They served margaritas at the top of the new bridge across the Mississippi River. If you ever decide to climb over the "no trespassing" signs and walk to the top, I recommend you wear comfortable shoes. It is a LONG walk, but with a beautiful view.
Geoff and I were concerned
since we couldn't see any signs of a party ahead.
I think I had already stopped to rest about three times at this point.
Kellee had posted signs along the way to keep us entertained and motivated.
Finally, we could see people!
What a wonderful site. Friends and ice cold margaritas waiting on us.

First Day on the Lake

Evan had his first ride on the barge with Grandpa Reagan, Mom, and Dad on April 3, 2010. It was a nice cool day, but we slathered on the sunscreen regardless. Evan had a great time. He had such a great time that he missed two naps. We paid for this later that night with one of the top three worst "Evan Breakdowns". He's only had a few, but they're tough. We should have taken more pictures on this day, but we were just having so much fun!
