6 weeks

I can't believe Evan is 6 weeks old. The weeks are starting to fly by. Geoff and I are getting a little more sleep now. We're starting to feel a little (tiny bit) more confident about caring for our new baby.

Week 5

Just pictures this week. I am behind on my posts. I don't remember this week at all! Exhausted! Thanks to friends for bringing by food and checking on us. Many thanks to Mom for helping me out with Evan.

Week 4

Evan is now one month old. What a whirlwind of a month this has been! Geoff and I are sleep deprived and often overwhelmed, but also very happy. Evan enjoys going on walks, although we have had very few sunny days. He also loves his swing and to spend time on his tummy. We always look forward to visits from Meme. Meme even kept Evan while Geoff and I escaped to "Mexico" for a beer and a break! Evan and I spent the night at Meme's on Friday night, but he didn't let anyone get much sleep. Evan is taking one bottle a day from Daddy. He's now wearing size 1 diapers and newborn clothes no longer fit!

Week 3

This week we were able to give Evan his first real bath in his froggy bath tub. This was a much better experience than the sponge baths. He really seemed to enjoy it. Evan is definately crying more at night now. Geoff and I are taking turns with him and trying to help him through these times. These nights are often pretty tough on Mom and Dad! Geoff gave Evan his first bottle on Thursday. It took him a few minutes to figure it out, but then he enjoyed a great meal! Evan and I went to see Geoff and Grandpa at the office for the first time. Evan slept most of the time in Meme's office, but everyone enjoyed having him around.

Evan's Second Week

This week Evan is starting to spend more time on his tummy and is working on holding up his head. Sponge baths are getting better, but we sure are ready for a tub bath! We rode out to Meme's for our first outing. That was a great feeling! Evan had his two week check up with the pediatrician. He peed on 'Grandma Rose' while she was trying to weigh and measure him. Evan now weighs 8 pounds 12 ounces. Evan enjoyed staring at the fluorescent lights at the doctor's office. All my coworkers were also able to meet Evan. After the doctor's visit, Evan and I spent the afternoon at Meme's. After Geoff got off work, we left Evan with Meme for about 3o minutes to ride around and drink a beer! It was nice to have a little break, but we were ready to see our baby again. On Saturday, we spent much of the day outside. Evan didn't enjoy this as much as we thought. Maybe it was too hot. He got back at us on Saturday night, and we didn't get much sleep!

Evan's First Week

Evan has had many new experiences this week. He's growing and changing every day. Geoff and I gave him his first bath, which was apparently TERRIFYING. We were concerned that he was not having enough poopy diapers the first few days, however that is no longer an issue. Evan now gives us plenty of opportunities to master the art of diapering. He sleeps in the pack & play next to our bed at night. I believe his favorite place to sleep is on Dad's chest, like a little tree frog. By the end of the week, Evan appears to have learned how to fuss. No matter how frustrated Mom & Dad became, we could always look at our precious boy and smile. Evan also rode in his swing for the first time, however his ride was short since he kept slumping forward in the seat. Later we learned that we had the seat positioned incorrectly and this is no longer a problem. Evan was also finally able to meet his cat and dog! Upon arriving home, Evan met Moose, his orange cat. Barley returned home a few days later and was also able to become aquainted with our new addition. We can already tell that Evan, Moose, and Barley will be the best of friends.
